Artist's Description

Strasburg decapod No. 90 is at the end of a long day's work. She paused here next to a pile of coal to allow a crewman to board before being put to bed in the engine house that night.

This visit to Strasburg was in the winter, which meant that the sun was low on the horizon fairly early in the day allowing me to catch the engine in favorable lighting. The last run of the day during the summer is usually around 6pm, but the sun sets at almost 9pm. During the winter, sunset is around 4pm and the last train leaves around 2pm. So the bottom line is, if you're looking for a sunset picture of a Strasburg railroad engine, go in December!

About Brad Brizek

Brad Brizek

Welcome! I'm originally from the southeast corner of Pennsylvania (just above Amish country), but I've traveled a good bit of the planet. I currently reside in Tucson, Arizona. I've been taking photos since 2006 and have been refining my style ever since. I have a particular passion for landscape, architectural, and transportation themes, although I've been known to do abstracts from time to time. If you like what you see, please come back regularly as I upload new shots all the time. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll find something that interests you!
